U.S. launches military strike against Syria

The United States launched a military strike on Syrian government targets Thursday night, in retaliation for their chemical weapon attack on civilians earlier in the week, the US government announced Thursday.

On President Donald Trump's orders, US warships launched 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Early Friday morning, the Russian government responded to the airstrikes. It called the strikes "an aggression against sovereign state in violation of international law."

Syria said 6 people died in the strikes.

Syrian president Bassir Assad called the strikes "reckless, irresponsible behavior."
