U.S. Post Service possibly facing bankruptcy

UNITED STATES.-The U.S. Postal Service may be forced to shut down this winter, unless lawmakers jump in to help.

The government-run agency won't be able to make its 5.5 billion health care payment this month because Americans aren't sending out as many packages or letters.

The postmaster general is also seeking congressional permission to end Saturday delivery close 3,700 locations and let 120,000 employees go.

The postal service employs nearly 600,000 workers and is the oldest institution in the U.S.
