SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The 40th U.S. Senior Open is set to start Thursday morning at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame and an event of this magnitude requires a significant amount of volunteers.

Out at Warren Golf Course, there are currently 2,150 volunteers, all wearing green jerseys and willing to lend a hand.

The diverse groups of volunteers represent four different countries and 44 total states. Some of the volunteers helped last year while some are hoping to get a jump on 2020.

“We have divisions for every different aspect of the championship. From championship services to fan services, player services, and scoring services, so anything you can think of in the championship that needs to get done, we have a volunteer to help with it,” said Championship Manager Danielle Baiunco.

Baiunco says they are expecting around 130,000 fans this week so it’ll be all hands on deck when it comes to volunteers.
