USI using technology to limit drink refills in dining halls

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. -- Students at the University of Southern Indiana were welcomed back from fall break with a change in their dining halls.

The cups in the dining halls have a tiny sticker on the bottom and it keeps track of the time. Students have 90 minutes to get a refill and then they are cut off.

"The point of the whole thing is that our paying customers get what they deserve and we're not having to pass costs along to them because some people aren't playing by the rules," said Kendra Strupp of the University of Southern Indiana.

Strupp says the next step will be monitoring the new system and getting feedback from students.
