NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Eddie Vanderdoes', a former Notre Dame commit, will be able to play for UCLA in his freshman season after the National Letter of Intent Committee approved his appeal this week.
It excuses the defensive lineman from his commitment to the Irish and allows Vanderdoes to skip the year of ineligibility.
He says he wants to be closer to home for a sick family member.
Irish coach Brian Kelly released a statement where he said, "While I disagree with [Tuesday]'s decision by the committee to reverse its original ruling and grant Eddie Vanderdoes a complete release from his NLI, I understand and respect the entire appeal process."
