Vehicle crashes into electrical pole during pursuit on Cleveland Road

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Two people were arrested following a police chase that ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into an electrical pole, the St. Joseph County Police Department reported.

On Thursday afternoon, police were called to 1st Source Bank on the corner of S.R. 933 and Cleveland Road for a report of a fraud in progress at the drive-up window.

As officers arrived on scene, a gray Ford Flex drove east on Cleveland.

The Flex hit stop sticks deployed at Cleveland and S.R. 933. The vehicle then went off the road and struck an electrical pole at the southwest corner of Cleveland and Hickory Road.

Neither the driver nor the passenger of the vehicle was injured in the crash and both were taken into custody.

The driver, identified as Sonya Leonard, was arrested on the charges of fraud and resisting with vehicle.

The passenger, identified as Donald Henderson, was arrested on the charge of fraud.
