Vehicle flips, lands in tree following rollover accident
DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Deputies discovered a vehicle upside down in a small tree following a rollover accident Friday afternoon.
According to Cass County deputies, at approximately 4:51 p.m. officers were dispatched to a personal injury accident in the 58000 block of M 51.
Upon arrival, Pokagon Tribal police and deputies found a vehicle flipped upside down and resting on top of a small tree.
Zackery Sparks, 19, of Dowagiac, Michigan was the driver of the Cadillac CTS who police say fled the scene of the accident but was later located and taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for injuries.
Deputies contacted the passengers of the CTS, Vinessa Snyder, 19, of Dowagic, Michigan and 16-year-old who were both taken by family members to Memorial Hospital.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Sparks was heading northbound on M 51 when he attempted to pass a vehicle on the right shoulder of the highway where he lost control, police say.
The CTS slid in a sideways motion then rolling before landing on its roof on the side of the road.
Seatbelts were worn at the time of the accident.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Pokagon Tribal Police and PrideCare Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
