Victim identified in fatal motorcycle crash
ELKHART, Ind. – The victim of a fatal crash involving a vehicle and two motorcycles on Thursday afternoon as been identified as 53-year-old Deborah Holmes of Elkhart.
At 2:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Main Street and the U.S. 20 Bypass for reports of a motor vehicle crash.
An initial investigation said that the vehicle was northbound on South Main Street, turning left to go east on the U.S. 20 Bypass.
As the vehicle made the turn, it collided with two motorcycles that were traveling southbound on South Main Street, reports said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was not injured in the crash.
Holmes was taken to the hospital and later died from her injuries.
The operator of the second motorcycle, a 53-year-old Elkhart man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This crash remains under investigation.
