Victims identified in fatal crash involving semi-truck and motorcycle on SR 119


ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—A 34-year-old woman was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on October 1 near C.R. 40 and S.R. 119, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Eli Schlabach, 33, of Goshen, was taken by Medflight to a hospital with serious injuries.

His passenger, Erin Schlabach, 34, of Goshen, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, a semi-truck driven by a 73-year-old male from Mediapolis, Iowa failed to yield the right of way to Eli’s motorcycle around 8:28 p.m.

The motorcycle struck the rear axle of the trailer being pulled by the semi-truck, police said.

The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
