ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. - Police arrested a Demetrius Taylor for intentionally starting a fire in Virginia on Saturday.
Authorities say Taylor and his girlfriend got into a fight earlier that day.
They say he roughed her up and lit a carpet on fire.
Then he pushed the stroller their baby was in towards the fire and made a run for it.
One neighbor, Monique Hayes, says they couldn’t believe someone could do something like this.
“"I was shocked to say the least. It's crazy. "He was in love with the little girl, so I can't imagine him doing something like that,” Hayes said.
A restoration crew is fixing the damaged top two floors of the apartment building.
Taylor is charged with several felony charges, including child endangerment and arson.
He is also in jail on no bond.
