Visitor at Westville Correctional Facility arrested for alleged trafficking

A visitor at the Westville Correctional Facility was arrested Saturday for allegedly attempting to smuggle small packages during a visitation with her son.

Correctional officers say while Polly Smart of Huntington, Indiana, was visiting her son Jonathon Smart, she allegedly tried to traffick 50 small strips of Suboxone, a drug similar to Methadone.

Smart eventually handed the substance over to officers.

The superintendent of the facility, Mark Sevier said, “Staff did an excellent job of working together to prevent the introduction of contraband into the facility. The facility does not tolerate trafficking, and will prosecute anyone who attempts to do so.”

Smart was arrested by correctional officers and was transported to the LaPorte County Jail for booking.
