Thursday night, President Obama proposed to give a free two-year community college education to students willing to work for it.
This proposed plans means that students would have to have a mentor, complete eight hours of community service every semester, and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
The plan could help nearly nine million college students.
Vice President Joe Biden spoke out Friday on why this is important to the United States.
“Any country that our-educates us, will out-compete us. There's no reason none, whatsoever, why we have to allow that to happen.”
The plan would require both the federal government and states to split the tab, which could be tough to pass through state legislation.
