Wa-Nee Community School activates "secure" operation
NAPPANEE, Ind. - Wa-Nee Community Schools instituted a hold and secure today, operating as normal, but with extra caution.
Later, the hold and secure was lifted and all schools have resumed to normal safety protocol.
Wa-Nee Community Schools did release a statement on social media:

We want to keep you informed about a situation in the Wakarusa area that has prompted us to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of our students. Out of an abundance of caution, we have placed Wakarusa Elementary and NorthWood Middle School into a Secure operation. The school is operating as normal with extra caution. Traffic entering and exiting the building is restricted. Local law enforcement officers are closely monitoring activity in our area, and while there is no immediate threat to our schools, we believe it is essential to be proactive and cautious to maintain the safety of our students.
