Walkerton Police Chief to receive lifesaving award

WALKERTON, Ind. – Police Chief Matthew Schalliol will be honored by the Walkerton Metropolitan Police Commission after saving a woman’s life Monday evening.

Chief Schalliol was off-duty when we found an unresponsive woman laying partially out of a vehicle on SR 23.

After investigation, the Chief suspected a drug overdose and administered a dose of Narcan. The first dose was partially effective so he administered another.

Chief Schalliol’s fast-action brought the woman back to consciousness and she was transported to Memorial Hospital.

The Lifesaving Award will be presented to Schalliol in June by Commission President Gene Reese.
