Wanted subject found hiding under trap door in home

LAWRENCE, Mich. -- Deputies located a wanted subject hiding in the crawl space of a home after discovering a trap door underneath a sofa and carpet, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies learned two wanted parole fugitives were at a home in the 55000 block of 56th Street in Lawrence.

When they arrived at the home, the two subjects also arrived to the home. One was taken into custody and the other ran into the house, deputies said.

After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, one of the wanted subjects was not located. During another search, a trap door was located in the floor under the couch and carpet.

Deputies located Bobby Bryan Tillery in the space underneath the house.

Tillery, 42, was taken into custody on a warrant for dangerous drugs.

At the scene, deputies took Tillery and three others into custody.

  • 40 year old male from Benton Harbor for parole violation
  • 34 year old male from Hartford for multiple traffic warrants
  • 37 year old male from Lawrence for parole violation
