Warsaw man killed after crashing car into utility pole

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. – A Warsaw man died after crashing his car into a utility pole.

Emergency crews responded to a call around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday at County Road 350 West, just north of County Road 200 North, in Kosciusko County.

Police found a destroyed Ford Contour in a cornfield on the west side of County Road 350 West. The driver, Shaun C. Owens, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team officers stated that Owens had been traveling northbound on County Road 350 West when he lost control according to a witness. Owens had over-corrected after driving over a small hill and slid off the roadway crashing into a utility pole.

Police say Owens was wearing a seatbelt, but due to the force of impact he was partially ejected from the vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation.
