Watch the full 'Fighting for Faith' discussion

Faith leaders from around Michiana met for a special discussion with ABC57’s Brian Conybeare at South Bend City Church to discuss the recent attacks on places of worship around the world ahead of National Day of Prayer, which is observed on the first Thursday of May.

Rabbi Michael Friedland of Sinai Synagogue, Jean Hope, Pastor of Grace AMEZ, Father Glenn Kohrman of Holy Family Catholic Parish, Jason Miller, Lead Pastor of South Bend City Church, and Imam Mohammad Sirajuddin of the Islamic Society of Michiana discussed how to work together across faith lines to fight the violence.

The leaders represented five different religions and talked about why some extremists are "fighting for faith" and turning to violence in the name of God, such as during the synagogue shooting outside of San Diego earlier this week, the Easter Sunday church bombing in Sri Lanka and the shootings targeting two mosques in New Zealand in March.
