Watch the Perseids sweep across the sky in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. - Summer's biggest meteor shower is happening, and Elkhart County Parks invites you to stargaze with them.

Each year, the brilliant Perseids dazzles with more than 70 meteors an hour.

Hosted at Bonneyville Mill County Park, at the Briar Patch Shelter, on Friday, August 11 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, interpretive naturalists will give guidance on using a telescope, how to spot constellations and provide tips on the best spots to catch a falling star.

Viewers can also spread out a blanket and catch the show with a naked eye.

The Perseids Party is free and open to all ages with no reservations required.
