LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a home in the 3000 block of S.R. 5 in Topeka around 3 p.m., Saturday, for a requested welfare check.

Deputies arrived to find the home secure and were unable to make contact with the residents.

The report states a family member of the residents arrived on scene shortly after and entered the house.

Upon entry, 70-year-old Deonicia Marroquin Flores and 70-year-old Rafael Flores were found dead,

Detectives then returned to the home to investigate.

Authorities say early evidence suggests this was a murder-suicide and was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

The LaGrange County Coroner’s Office and Indiana State Police were summoned to assist.

The investigation is ongoing.

Their families have all been notified.
