ORIGINAL: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department is responding to a crash on the US 20 Bypass Wednesday afternoon and they are asking people to avoid the area while they clear the scene.

"Our officers are currently responding to a crash involving a semi in the westbound lanes of the Bypass just west of the US 31 exit," the SBPD said.

"If you were planning to take the Bypass this afternoon, please find an alternate route as our officers respond and work to clear the scene."
