Whooping cough reaches epidemic proportions

The whooping cough crisis in California has reached epidemic proportions.
According to the state's public health department 800 cases have been reported in the past two weeks alone.
There were more than 3400 whooping cough cases reported since the start of the year.
This number is well ahead of the number of cases reported for all of 2013.
