Wimbush looks to be next in line at quarterback for Irish

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -

Malik Zaire is transferring, DeShone Kizer is likely headed to the NFL, so now it looks like Brandon Wimbush will get his opportunity next year to be a signal caller for the Fighting Irish.

Wimbush red-shirted this year, and played sparingly as a freshman in 2015. Kizer said a couple weeks ago that Wimbush had all the capabilities to be a starter on a power five team and that he would be ready when his number was finally called.

Notre Dame is expected to return 10 out of 11 starters on the offensive side of the ball next year with the exception of Kizer, so the transition should be seamless for Wimbush.
