Winamac woman dies in two-car crash in Fulton County

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana State Police confirmed that a woman died in a two vehicle crash in Fulton County at the intersection of State Road 114 and Fulton County Road 1275 East at around 2 p.m. on Monday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 45-year-old Denise Payne of Winamac was driving north on County Road 1275 East. She stopped at a stop sign where the road intersects with State Road 114, then proceeded forward.

Payne drove out in front of a semi-tractor hauling grain. The driver of the semi-tractor, 62-year-old Russell Feldman of Bourbon, Indiana, struck Payne’s vehicle.

Payne was pronounced dead at the scene. Feldman did not sustain any injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
