Wisconsin parents fined for kids' bullying

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- A Wisconsin town is cracking down on bullying by making parents pay up.

Tickets for bullying are now an option under law in Monona, near Eau Claire.

The city says parents of children who bully others could be fined $114 for their child's actions.

School officials say they hope parents will not let it get that far.

"I think this is a step that it's going to be hard to go back from if you have to take this step. And so we would exhaust every measure that we could before going to some kind of fine to parents," said Doctor Connie Biedron, Altoona School Superintendent.

Police believe the ordinance will be used sparingly only when parents do not cooperate.

If parents do work with their kids they will not get the pricey ticket.
