Woman accused of hitting security guard with vehicle

ELKHART, Ind. – Police are looking for a woman accused of hitting a security guard with a vehicle at a car dealership on Sunday, the Elkhart Police Department announced.

At 4 p.m., an officer arrived to a car dealership in the 900 block of North Nappanee Street for a report of a person who had been hit by a vehicle.

The victim, who is security for the company, was patrolling when he got a call saying a black woman was opening car doors on the property.

The security guard approached the woman and told her she needed to stop opening the doors.

When he told the woman to go close the doors, she allegedly refused and got back inside of a black Kia that was parked in a parking spot.

The woman then backed up and hit the security guard with the vehicle, reports said.

While making a U-turn, the woman allegedly hit the victim’s legs, knocking him to the ground.

The woman then left the scene in an unknown direction, reports said.

The security guard has non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

This is an ongoing investigation.
