Woman arrested following hit and run on Indiana Avenue
ELKHART, Ind. - A woman was arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured one person, the Elkhart Police Department reported.
At 9:46 a.m. on Monday, officers arrived to the intersection of E. Indiana Avenue and Sterling Avenue for a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Indiana Avenue when a white Ford Focus who was turning eastbound onto Indiana collided with the motorcycle, according to reports.
The driver of the Focus then left the scene, reports said.
The 53-year-old motorcyclist was flown to the hospital for serious injuries.
His condition is unknown at this time, police said.
The suspect vehicle was located a short time later in the 1800 block of Decamp Avenue but no one was inside of it.
At 10:11 a.m., police found the driver in the 1600 block of E. Cleveland Avenue.
The woman allegedly gave officers false identifying information and repeatedly yelled after officers told her to quiet her voice.
She was taken to the Elkhart County Jail for disorderly conduct and false informing.
This is an ongoing investigation.
