ELKHART, Ind. -- Two people in Elkhart face felony charges after a call for an alleged Battery incident also led to the arrest of a second person on drug charges.

Elkhart Police Department officials say this happened at about 12:39 a.m. on July 22. According to a release, officers were called to a parking lot at 740 Prairie Street. Officials say officers found a female victim with apparent swelling and injuries. She allegedly told officers multiple people attacked and battered her at a home on Stevens Avenue; she allegedly specified that a woman struck her with a sock stuffed with an unknown object.

Police officials say officers obtained two search warrants for the home on Stevens Avenue. They allegedly found multiple pieces of evidence, including a tube sock stuffed with rocks. Officials say officers also found marijuana, multiple guns (including one that had been reported as stolen), and 34 grams of cocaine.

A female suspect, 34-year-old Shonece Bailey, was taken into custody for alleged Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Another person in the home, 31-year-old Hahkeem Layman, is charged with Dealing in Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
