Woman injured in motorcycle crash in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a motorcycle crash that happened near the intersection of M-40 and M-60 Friday evening. A woman had to be transported to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 60-year-old John O’Brien of Downers Grove was driving westbound on M-60 turning into the Shell Gas Station.

As O’Brien was turning, he crossed paths with a motorcycle traveling eastbound on M-60. O’Brien did not notice the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle was 45-year-old Joseph Silvia of Elkhart. The passenger of the motorcycle, Emily Silva, was transported to Three Rivers Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
