Woman reports being hit by stray bullet while inside her South Bend home

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A 71-year-old woman reported being struck by a stray bullet while inside her home on New Year’s Day, the South Bend Police Department reported.
Just after 12:30 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 300 block of 29th Street after a female victim reported being hit by a bullet while inside her residence.
The incident took place as multiple cases of “celebratory gunfire” were being reported around South Bend, police said.
The victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
