Woman rescued from Dowagiac River at Pucker Street Dam

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A woman was rescued from the Dowagiac River Wednesday morning, according to the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.

Berrien County dispatch received a call around 10 a.m. about a woman struggling in the water above the Pucker Street Dam.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene they found a woman above the dam clinging to the side of the dam.

Niles Township Fire/Rescue and Niles City Fire/Rescue pulled the woman to safety within 25 minutes of the initial call.

She was a 34-year-old woman from Chicago who had been tubing with friends and became trapped along the dam, reports said.

She was wearing a life jacket and was not injured in the incident.
