Woman rescued from water at Lions Park Beach has died

One of the two women rescued from the water at Lions Park Beach over the weekend has died, according to the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety.

Officers were called to the beach around 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a water rescue.

Two sisters had been swimming when they got into deep water and struggled to get out.

Both were rescued and transported to the hospital.

The 29-year-old was treated and released.

The other sister, 32-year-old Danely Lopez, died at the hospital on Wednesday.
