Woman sent to hospital after Saturday stabbing in Elkhart
ELKHART, Ind. -- A female suspect was detained after she allegedly stabbed one woman, and struck another in the face before fleeing from police Saturday night in the 1400 block of W. Lexington Ave.
Authorities say they were called to the scene around 2:53 p.m. on Oct. 19 where they found a 39-year-old woman with stab wounds in her leg.
Medics arrived shortly thereafter and transported the victim to Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
"During the incident, the known female suspect also allegedly struck a second woman in the face as well as damaged a window on a vehicle belonging to the stabbing victim," the Elkhart Police Department said. "The suspect left before police arrival but was subsequently located and detained in the 1200 block of Georgia Blvd, Elkhart, later that day."
The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Aryanna McClure of Elkhart. She was arrested and booking into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of felony Battery-Deadly Weapon, felony Battery-Moderate Bodily Injury, and misdemeanor Battery.
"[On Monday] an Elkhart County Magistrate found probable cause for the arrest and set Ms. McClure’s bond at $50,000," EPD said. "This case has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges."
