Woman taken to hospital after crash traps passengers
VANDALIA, Mich. – A woman was treated for injuries at the hospital after the vehicle she was in drove off the roadway and down an embankment early Saturday morning.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the area of Rainbow Road and Glendon Road, near Shavehead Lake, around 4 a.m. to investigate a single-vehicle crash.
Deputies found 28-year-old Krystal Tyler and 27-year-old Rebecca Mallo in trapped in the overturned vehicle. The two were extricated.
Officials say Tyler was treated for injuries and released from the scene and Mallo was taken to Three Rivers Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
A third passenger of the vehicle had left the scene before officials arrived.
Deputies believe the driver of the vehicle failed to successfully navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to overturn off the roadway.
Alcohol is said to be a factor in this crash.
