Work on intersection of Riverside, California & Leland starts April 24

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Construction at the intersection Riverside Drive, California Avenue and Leland Avenue begins Monday, according to the City of South Bend.

The intersection will be closed until June 30 for the work, weather permitting.

California Road will also be paved from the intersection to Portage Avenue.

Drivers will detour using Vassar Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard via Navarre Street and Portage Avenue during the work.

Road improvements include removing the wide right-turn lane on Riverside Drive and shifting that curb to align with the rest of the street.

Crews will also replace sidewalks and curb ramps and add new bump outs, trees and work on sewers in the area.
