YMCA Camp Eberhart to host 3rd annual 'Trunk or Treat' event in Three Rivers Saturday
THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re looking for a safe and fun way for your kids to do some trick or treating, YMCA Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, Michigan, has you covered.
The camp is hosting their 3rd annual "Trunk or Treat" event from 1-3P.M., on Saturday, October 29th.
"Trunk or Treat" started during COVID, when camp leaders wanted to find a way for kids to be able to safely enjoy the Halloween tradition while remaining socially distant.
The route will start at the entrance and loop through the camp, all the way to the exit on the other side.
Kids will remain in their cars and as they approach each decorated trunk and ‘trunkers’ will come to the car and hand out candy.
There are around 20 sponsors registered to distribute the candy, and they’re looking forward to seeing all of the fun costumes kids will bring this year.
Michelle Holloway, Assistant Camp Director, says the Trunk or Treat event is, “a great way for our community to see the camp.”
The camp’s history goes back over 100 years, serving as a treasured destination for families all year round.
In order to help with funds for events like this, the camp partners with local foundations to host fundraisers, including their Greatest Chefs of Michiana fundraiser.
Featuring nine local restaurants and nine local celebrities, the Greatest Chefs event is this Friday, the 28th, from 6-9P.M., at Palais Royale in South Bend. It’s a chance for restaurants to show off some of their best dishes.
Community members can purchase an entry ticket that will allow them to go to each booth and try the different foods before voting on their favorite.
Funds raised go towards events like this, and helping families send kids to Camp Eberhart, who may not be financially able to otherwise.
