ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The YMCA of Greater Michiana is still in the final home stretch of fundraising while winding down its week of giving.
Folks were invited to "melt and unwind" at the O'Brien Center in South Bend Friday night.
Attendees were asked to "donate what you can" to enter Studio One, where they did a series of slow rhythmic exercises similar to yoga, using a ball to massage different pressure points.
YMCA of Greater Michiana tasked each of its locations with the mission to raise $5,000 for a total of $15,000 to fund scholarships.
Kayla O'Brien, Fund Development Director for YMCA of Greater Michiana, stated, "As the YMCA we try to fill the needs in the community that we see whether that be fitness related, child care related, healthy living related, and so we have our scholarship fund that we're raising money for so it can offset the costs of memberships or programs for folks who might not be able to pay full price. And so that way, we don't ever have to turn someone away who wants to be a part of our programs."
So far, it's raised two thirds of the goal, hitting the $10,000 mark.
Anyone wanting to donate can do so here.
