It's good news for former Pinnacle Gym members like Jack Sjoquist.
“There was no warning, just a couple hours notice,” said Sjoquist, when the gym closed down after 40 years of serving the community.
Although the "Y" has already closed one gym because of finances, it plans on making the new location profitable.
The President and CEO of YMCA Michiana said their focus on families and the youth is what separates them from any other gym.
Organizers hope programs like summer camps, diabetes prevention plans, and group fitness classes at the YMCA will bring back members of the once booming Pinnacle Gym and invite others who need access to those resources.
The new location is expected to open this Fall. The YMCA expects to hire at least 20 workers.
