BREMEN, Ind. – Young, creative writers in Michiana have the opportunity to get recognized for their skills.
The Bremen Public Library is inviting kids from 6th through 12th grades to take part in a writing competition, the "Flash Fiction Challenge."
Students are given a writing prompt and must finish it using between 500 to 1,000 words.
10 winners will be chosen. Each will receive a $15 Barnes and Noble gift card and have their work published on the library's Young Adult Blog.
Young Adult Librarian Chris Scandling says it’s important to offer programs like this so kids can continue to get creative even outside of the classroom.
Scandling added:
“I like the possibilities behind what this can do.”
Students have until October 18 to submit pieces. Winners will be notified by October 20.
