BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - A man who was given probation after having sex with a girl who lied about her age, is facing new legal troubles.
Zach Anderson is accused of violating probation, but his family says it isn’t true.
It started in 2015, when Anderson was sentenced to two years of probation.
Anderson had sex with who lied about her age on a mobile app where they met, but she was actually underage.
“It always seems like there’s always something, always something they’re trying to get him on,” Zach’s father, Les Anderson said.
Les says Zach violated probation once, for using a computer to search for information on a skateboard ramp.
“Yeah he shouldn’t have been on the computer, but is it really worth six months added probation?” Les said.
This time, Les says there is no way Zach violated probation.
However, the Berrien County Prosecutor says Zach had recent contact with an underage girl.
Les believes the courts are referring to a 17-year-old who works at Granger Community Church where Zach also works.
But Les says the girl and Zach have never met.
“Absolutely, there has been a mistake made,” Les said.
Just months from the end of his son’s probation, Les says Zach is being targeted, and falsely accused.
“If they really had his best interest at heart, we wouldn’t be talking right now, and we should be done,” Les said.
Zach is scheduled to appear in court again Wednesday.
