WARSAW, Ind. -- Zimmer Biomet has announced a global workforce reduction to "right-size the organization" and align company resources with near-term business realities.

Zimmer Biomet said the decision was not made lightly and while the changes are difficult, they are necessary to allow the company to achieve long-term company strategy while also developing life-changing innovation for patients.

The company stated that they feel confident in the opportunity ahead to continue to shape the future of the musculoskeletal health industry.

Zimmer Biomet is committed to supporting employees affected by the downsizing with resources including severance packages and career transition assistance.

The company did not disclose number specifics but stated the majority of downsizing is occurring outside of Warsaw.
