Zolman Tire gives scholarships to 11 local students

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Zolman Tire honored this year's Zolman's Student Leadership Award winners last week at the Zolman's 2014 E. McKinley Location in Mishawaka.

The Zolman's Student Leadership Award is a $1,000 scholarship provided to eleven high school seniors - totaling $11,000 in scholarship money.

These students were selected from qualifying students who applied from schools across the six counties of St. Joseph, Elkhart, Cass, Berrien, Kalamazoo and Van Buren.

"At Zolman's, we believe that our students are our future," said owner Nate Zolman.

"Show me your students, and I'll show you the future of our communities. We want to support the aspirations of our high school students by doing something tangible to assist them as they further their education. The Zolman's Student Leadership Award provides financial support to students who have overcome, at times, seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The SLA Award is our way of saying thank you to these fine students who are doing everything they can to give back to the community as they strive to become the very best citizens and leaders they can be. We want them to know that your dreams can true with the right amount of hard work and perseverance."

This is the fifth year of the Zolman Tire Student Awards Ceremony.

The requirements for the Student Leadership Award are as follows:

  • Each student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Each student must be a high school senior.
  • They must be planning to go into any further education beyond their senior year of high school. This continued education can be vocational schooling, trade school, community college, traditional four-year college, online college, or military.
