D'IBERVILLE, MS -- D'Iberville Police officers, along with D'Iberville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel responded to a medical emergency at Landmark Apartments on Lamey Bridge Rd. on Wednesday at approximately 4:11 a.m.
According to officials, upon arrival, emergency personnel found a deceased 10-month-old baby on the floor of an apartment.
Through interviews conducted on the scene, D'Iberville Police Officers learned that around 4:00 a.m. the baby's father woke up his elderly father, telling him something was wrong with the baby. The grandfather found the baby unresponsive on the floor and dialed 911. The grandfather relayed to the officers, while he and his son were waiting on emergency personnel to arrive, his son ran hysterically out of the house.
Officers began canvassing the area for the father of the deceased child and located him a short time later hanging from a stairwell of an adjacent apartment building. AMR and Fire Department personnel immediately began life-saving procedures and the father was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
An autopsy will be conducted on the 10-month-old to determine the cause of death. The investigation is on-going. The D'Iberville Police Department is being assisted in the investigation by Harrison County Coroner Gray Hargrove.
