Vandalia Village president says he will not resign
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich.-- Thursday morning, approximately 8:12 A.M., Van Buren County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported car crash in the 72000 block of 22nd Street in Porter Township.
The crash involved a 10-year-old pedestrian.
The driver, a 38-year-old woman driving a white SUV, called 911 and reported that she had hit the child after checking a family mailbox.
First responders Lawton Quick Response, Van Buren EMS, and Van Buren County deputies arrived on scene and immediately began providing medical aid to the child who had been struck near a school bus stop.
After being treated at the scene of the crash, the child was transported to Bronson Hospital for further care.
Unfortunately, the 10-year-old later died from their injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.
