$10k reward for photo of bat that may have been used by Babe Ruth
SOUTH BEND, IN- Doug Shaffer, a local Sports Memorabilia Collector, is offering $10,000 to the first person or organization that can provide a photo of Babe Ruth with a bat he may have used when he played in South Bend in 1926. This is so they can authenticate the bat was used by Babe Ruth.
Shaffer explained the historical significance, plus the attributes that point to it being the one Babe Ruth used nearly 100 years ago.
Below are the terms for the reward:
"One $10,000 reward will be paid to the first person who provides a qualifying photograph that materially contributes to the authentication of the baseball bat currently in the possession of Doug Shaffer, which is believed to have been used by Babe Ruth during the 1926 barnstorming tour. This photograph must be original and authenticated. Only one reward will be paid, and that reward is payable only if the bat is successfully authenticated and subsequently sold. This offer expires December 31, 2026. Subject to additional terms and conditions."
