11-Year-old girl found dead in her bed

HOWARD, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating the mysterious death of an 11-year-old girl.

Destany Frick was found dead in her bed around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday after her older sister came in to wake her up for school.

It happened at 110 Wolfe Road in Howard Township.

The death of the young girl is so unexpected that those who knew her are still stunned and heartbroken by the news. Now everyone is left with one question, how did a seemingly healthy little girl suddenly die in her bed?

"It's terrible, it doesn't make any sense".

Carolyn Archer lives just across the street from where Destany Frick lived, or Rosie as she is best known to neighbors.

Archer says her grandson use to play with Rosie and the other kids outside in her yard.

"She was kinda of quite. She played with everybody but just kind of went along with what everyone esle did," Archer.

Archer is still in disbelief after hearing that the sixth grade was found dead in her bed by her old sister early this morning. Now Archer and other neighbors say they just want to know what happened.

"We just couldn't imagine what could have happened to her. We feel bad for the family and for her friends. We just felt bad that we lost her."

Students and teachers from Oak Maner Sixth Grade Center have already started a facebook page, "Remember Destany Frick".

Just before 11 p.m. ABC 57 News received a statement from the Cass County Sheriff's Office saying Frick's death his still under investigation, but that they do not suspect foul play.

The Sheriff's office say the girl was taken to Grand Rapids, where an autopsy is being done. Right now, investigators say they will not reslease the autopsy results until the toxicology report is in. A process that can take up to four weeks.
