12-Year-old killed in snowmobile crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A 12-year-old boy was killed Saturday after crashing a snowmobile into a tree.

The accident happened at 2:20 p.m. at 510 Chaucer Road.

According to the Indiana Department of natural Resources the 12-year-old, how has not been identified, was driving a snowmobile with the assistance of his father on the back.

The boy accidentally accelerated the machine causing his father to be thrown off the back.

The snowmobile continued across the yard, going through so brush before hitting a tree head on.

The boy suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to Parkview Medical Center, he was pronounced dead at 6 p.m.

At the time of the accident, neither the father, or his son were wearing helmets.
