13 Puppies, 3 dogs killed in Indianapolis fire

INDIANAPOLIS -- Over a dozen animals were killed in a house fire in Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

The fire killed three dogs and 13 three week old puppies.

The parents and three children woke up to find smoke at knee-level throughout their house.

Firefighters say the smoke detectors saved the family's life.

Smoke inhalation is to blame for the death of the 16 dogs.

The dad of the puppies, a pit-bull named Romeo, managed to survive.
