ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 13-year-old girl was arrested after Indiana State Police say she led officers on a high-speed chase through Elkhart County in a stolen vehicle.

This happened Tuesday, July 7, at about 8:40 a.m. near the intersection of State Road 19 and County Road 26. ISP officials say a Ford F-150 was spotted driving over the speed limit. They say they attempted to pull the truck over, but the suspect failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. ISP officials say the truck drove on and off the road multiple times before getting stuck in a cornfield near the intersection of State Road 19 and County Road 30.

The suspect allegedly ran away into the cornfield. Officials say officers on the scene set up a perimeter and eventually found the suspect. The ISP release says the suspect failed to comply and began moving towards a Trooper. Officials say a taser was used and she was apprehended.

It was also learned the truck was reported stolen out of Goshen.

The 13-year-old was taken to the Elkhart Juvenile Justice Center.
