15-year-old suspect in Michigan City double homicide to be tried as adult

ABC 57

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The teenage suspect in a double homicide in Michigan City will be tried as an adult.

La Porte County prosecutors tell ABC57 that 15-year-old Mason Schoen was waived to adult court today (Schoen was 14 at the time of the alleged crime). The county prosecutor's office is working to complete the necessary paperwork.

This stems from an incident that happened in October 2025. Officers were called on a welfare check to a home in the 100 block of Schofield Court. The bodies of 67-year-old Eddie Nixon and Sylvia White were found at the scene. Investigators say Schoen was later found having crashed a car into a tree.
