18-year-old allegedly stabbed by a throwing star
ELKHART, Ind. -- An 18-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by a throwing star Friday, according to Elkhart Police Department.
The victim was encountered by a 16-year-old male inside Mandarin Kitchen at approximately 4 p.m. and was then followed to his car in the parking lot.
An altercation ensued, and the victim was cut with a throwing star or similar object.
His injuries were not life-threatening.
Later that evening at approximately 9:07 p.m., officers were notified that the male subject and a female were at an Exxon gas station.
The male subject was arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He was also previously reported as a runaway out of Cass County, Michigan. He was taken to Elkhart Juvenile Detention Center.
The 15-year-old female subject was arrested after also previously being reported as a runaway in Cass County, Michigan. She was released to a parent/guardian.
Under Senate Enrolled Act 77, throwing stars are legal in Indiana as of this year.
Previously, possession, manufacturing or selling of a throwing star was a Class C misdemeanor.
